Milonga Yo Soy El Tango: Raven’s Eye

Raven’s Eye: Messages in Flight

This is no ordinary night of tango! The ravens will be watching, whispering messages that remind
us why we embrace, provoke our awarenesses, deepen our moments and guide our evening’s flow. Each tanda arrives with its own omen: a spark of wisdom, a playful riddle, or a poetic reminder of why we dance. Tonight, the dance floor is the sky, and the ravens carry our stories!

But these messages are not only to be heard… they are to be shared. Through every embrace, you’ll have the chance to carry the raven’s words to one another through tango. Imagine your tanda as a whisper in movement, a gift of presence, or secret passed without words. Let the ravens help you craft and deliver your special messages.

Get ready for an interactive evening of art, dance and community! Step onto the floor ready to listen to the music, the ravens, and each other! By night’s end, the floor will be filled not just with tandas, but stories, soul-stirring connections, and the quiet wisdom of tango dance itself. Don’t know what to expect? You’ll just have to show up to find out.

Why Ravens?
In Norse mythology, ravens are powerful symbols of wisdom, vision, and connection between worlds. Odin — seeker of knowledge and wanderer between realms — was accompanied by two ravens: Huginn (“Thought”) and Muninn (“Memory”). Each day they flew across the world, gathering stories, secrets, and knowledge, and returned to whisper what they had seen in Odin’s ear. They embodied the idea that wisdom is not just held within, but carried, shared, and renewed through experience.

In the same way, our milonga is a place where wisdom, beauty, and presence are shared through dance. Each of us brings something unique — a memory, a thought, a story to our movement — and when shared, these become gifts that transform the whole room. Here, all are welcomed. When we show up as our true selves, offering our talents, care and attention through our embrace, we discover there is space for everyone. In that shared openness, meaningful connection becomes possible for all.

At their heart, ravens in mythology invite us to listen deeply, remember fully, and see beyond the obvious. While at first they appear mysterious — the wisdom of the raven belongs to all who are willing to look for what’s possible and are brave enough take flight.
